An evening inspired by the "patter" songs from opera and operetta

photo

Richard Suart studied at St John's College Cambridge and the Royal Academy. He has appeared frequently with English National Opera in roles varying from Frank in Die Fledermaus to Lesbo in Agrippina, and from Benoit to Ko-Ko, which he has sung for the company on more than a hundred occasions. One of his early "Patter" recital programmes has been on the Performance Channel for over ten years. Numerous recordings include seven Savoy Operas, as well as The Geisha, and The Maid of the Mountains.

"Richard Suart has become the sine qua non of G&S in this country.
Beware inferior substitutes" (The Independent on Sunday)

Tonight's programme will include songs from a newly recorded CD of the music of Lionel Monckton, as well as favourites from Gilbert & Sullivan, Flanders and Swann, Nöel Coward and Tom Lehrer.

In short, a light-hearted evening of patter and natter - what more could matter?
